Stathis Alexopoulos is a contemporary Greek sculptor who has exhibited nationally, as well as in France and Monaco. With an artistic style that flirts with design, his contemporary and vibrantly colored pieces are complemented by a variety of finishes. Alexopoulos blends together belts and stripes in an attempt to capture their redefined forms. His sculptures combine modern aesthetics with the enduring values of classical sculpture since the form has the power to define the artworks meaning and mission. The artist strives to redefine the form and hold it captive through time. His sculpting technique attempts to link the past with the present bringing together the concepts of time and art, is characterized by “hubs”, which are formed by blending together belts and stripes, encircled and embraced eternally.

In his recent work presented in the exhibition “Kids room”, the artist inspired by his personal experiences and the relationship that flourishes between father and child, is reminiscing on the concept of play and child interaction. The rubber duck is one of few pieces from pop culture that has exceeded its initial purpose and become a symbol. Rubber ducks represent early youth for many, satiating a common desire for nostalgia. The sculpture is characterized by hubs, which are formed by blending together belts and stripes in an attempt to redefine its form and hold it captive through time.
